International Egg and Poultry Review

US - By the USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). This is a weekly report looking at international developments concerning the poultry industry. This week's report focuses on US exports of shell egg and egg products.

For the first half of 2009 the top 5 countries receiving exports of shell eggs from the US were: Hong Kong(10,770,478 dozen), Canada(8,587,455 dozen), United Arab Empirates(2,882,840 dozen), China(1,756,424 dozen, and Mexico(1,389,596 dozen).

The top 5 countries with the largest increase in exports of shell eggs from the US for the first half of 2009 over the first half of 2008 were: Hong Kong( up 4,779,467 dozen), United Arab Empirates(up 1,639,040 dozen), China(up 1,140,774 dozen), Mexico(up 1,085,809 dozen), and The Bahamas(up 560,458 dozen)

For the first half of 2009 the top 5 countries receiving exports of egg products from the US were: Japan(4616.6 mt), Canada(4174.8 mt), Mexico(1059 mt), Germany(1054.1 mt), and Denmark(730 mt).

The top 5 countries with the largest increase in exports of egg products from the US for the first half of 2009 over the first half of 2008 were: Canada(up 2834.2 mt), France(up 152.4 mt), Saudi Arabia(up 146.7 mt), Denmark(up 131.8 mt), and Ecuador(up 92.9 mt).
