GPs Updated on Eggs and Cholesterol

UK - The British Egg Information Service (BEIS) has been spreading the good news about eggs among GPs this Autumn.

A campaign targeting this key group of opinion leaders has included hard-hitting advertisements in their two key weekly professional magazine titles, GP and Pulse, as well as meeting hundreds of GPs at their annual conference.

The BEIS also emailed 27,000 UK GPs direct with news on the change of advice regarding eggs and cholesterol written by Juliet Gray, Registered Public Health Nutritionist. The latest news on eggs was on display at the Royal College of General Practitioners Annual Conference in Harrogate from 7-9 October.

As well as explaining to the 1,100 delegates how the limits on egg consumption had been lifted, GPs were told of the important nutrients eggs contain and the role they can play in the diet of patients. Vitamin D was a hot topic, and food safety was another area of interest.

Copies of the latest research papers on eggs were distributed and a dietitian was on hand to answer any specific questions from the delegates.
