The PPA is observing World Egg Day throughout the country today (8 October) to create awareness in the public about the nutritional value of eggs, reports Business Recorder.

The Association will be organising seminars and walks in various cities to highlight the subject, while a media briefing was held at the Lahore Press Club (LPC), said Major Syed Javed Bukhari (Retd) Secretary of the Association in Lahore.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA-NZ) Chairman, Abdul Haye Mehta, along with Haji Muhammad Riaz, Dr Masood Jaffery and others said that poultry sector is one of the most organised branches of the agro-based sector of Pakistan.

Poultry at present contributes 40 per cent of the total meat consumption and generates employment and income for about 1.5 million people. Poultry is the cheapest available meat protein source for the population and as such, is an effective check upon the spiralling animal protein prices also, they added.

Mr Mehta said that the PPA is celebrating World Egg Day by organising seminars at different places to make the general public aware about the nutritional values of eggs.
