SENASICA Inspects Farms and Strengthens Biosecurity in Guanajuato
MEXICO - The National Health, Food Safety and Quality Service (SENASICA) has reported that as of 24 February, 35 farms in Guanajuato and seven sites where backyard poultry farming practices have been inspected.The operation was implemented with the puspose of containing the outbreak of avian influenza AH7N3 in the state.
A total of 3,874 samples from various production units have been analysed, out of which 24 have been declared AH7N3-free, and 18 have confirmed the presence of the disease.
Mexico's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) has reported that 241,000 birds were slaughtered while 265,900 were vaccinated.
