Last Newcastle Disease Outbreak in Israeli Pigeons

ISRAEL - Since the Newcastle disease virus was found to have caused the deaths of 40 wild pigeons in September, there have been no further outbreaks of the disease in the country.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 1 dated 2 December to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

On 20 September, 40 wild pigeons were found dead in the Jerusalem area. They subsequently tested positive for the Newcastle disease virus.

The epidemiological investigation is ongoing but no further outbreaks have been reported.
