The Daily Observer reports that during the inauguration ceremony, the federation also donated 50 hens as part of their efforts to support the welfare of children in their operation.

Speaking at the ceremony, the manager of Saamasang Federation Edrissa Cham, said poultry breeding would in no doubt complement the efforts of Saamasang federation and individual families in their quest to eradicate poverty at community level.

He revealed that Child Fund International is planning to discontinue with the school fee payment for children, as The Gambia is the only country at present paying for sponsored children.

Cham explained that Child Fund the Gambia is coming up with initiatives that would help parents to be able to pay the school fees of their children.

The manager of Saamasang Federation thus urged the beneficiaries to wisely protect the donated chickens in order for them to breed more descendants in future.

The programme and Ccommunication officer of Saamasang Alieu B Sillah said helping families is very crucial towards the Community Empowerment Initiative, designed by the Federation. He added that the sustainability of the project lies in the hands of the beneficiaries.

For his part, the veterinary officer attached to the project Bai Janneh, reminded the beneficiaries about the importance of the project emphasizing that the hens when properly managed will breed more young ones, while calling on them to take good use of the project.

Community mobilizer of Kabafita Lamin Fatty said the Project is timely, and that it will help to eradicate poverty at the grass root.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Fatou Sanyang of Darsilami lauded the Federation for the gesture,and promised that the project will be protected at all time.
