Newcastle Disease Found in Romania

ROMANIA - There has been an outbreak of Newcastle disease on a farm in Romania.

There were 44,610 deaths from the disease out of a susceptible population of 53,610 four-week-old chickens.

The chickens originated in the intra-community trade. They were vaccinated against Newcastle disease at one day old, in the hatchery, then at 21 days old, with a live vaccine administered in the water.

The outbreak occurred in Suceava province.
