Led by top specialists from Aviagen and the wider poultry industry, the Nutrition School offered a fully packed program focused on achieving the highest level of quality, balanced nutrient intake and biosecurity of breeder and broiler diets. Visits to the Bangkok Agricultural Research Center (BARC) feed mill, laboratory and farm facilities were among the highlights of the week, enabling students to hand produce their own diets, feed them to day-old chicks and analyse gut health in a practical workshop.

History of helping to educate future poultry professionals

Since 2012, Aviagen EMEA Schools focusing on a variety of topics have helped customers achieve the best health, welfare and performance from their broilers and breeders.

Michael Longley, Aviagen global technical transfer manager and school director, said, “At Aviagen, educating the next generation of poultry professionals is a foremost priority. To this end, we continually enhance our EMEA Schools to ensure we’re offering our customers the best learning experience using the content that will help them most with their own operations.”

Michael added, “We enjoyed connecting with students this week, as together we explored current and relevant nutrition topics. It was great to see the students engaged in the learning process, which they demonstrated through their enthusiasm and thought-provoking questions.”

Student feedback on School

From the quality of content to the expertise and presentation skills of the trainers, attendees agreed that the School provided valuable information that they could put into practice in their daily work.

Shehryar A. Sheikh, Pak Group of Industries, Pakistan, offered, “I would like to thank Aviagen for taking care of us during the Nutrition Module, which was very comprehensive and well designed, with excellent people to teach us. Every instructor brought to the table knowledge along with experience. While prior to attending the course some topics seemed familiar, these turned out to be of great value also. I was able to take home some practical advice to benefit my operations, and look forward to attending future modules of the School.”

“Each session of the course gave me insights that can be applied to the daily routine of my job. I really got to appreciate how every aspect of poultry nutrition plays an important role and that we have to consider all of these factors together to achieve best performance,” commented Emiliano Gurrieri, Agronomist, Leocata Mangimi SPA, Italy.
