Tell us about Amlan International and what you are featuring at IPPE.
Amlan is the animal nutrition and health division of Oil-Dri® Corporation of America. Oil-Dri has been in business for more than 80 years and has divisions across the agricultural space. Amlan has a specific portfolio that targets feed additives or products that improve the productivity of poultry, swine, dairy and even companion animals.
Our basic technology is focused around our mineral, which is selectively mined in a mine that Oil-Dri owns and has vertical control over. We control the product quality all the way from our mine to our customers.
Oil-Dri also has formulated products. Those include things such as Phylox® which won Best of the Best product showcase last year, and NeutraPath® that won the award this year at IPPE. These products not only augment the clay technology but provide a wider range of activities for our customers to take advantage of as they remove antibiotics or look to improve the gut health of their animals.
Tell our readers about the use of your products internationally.
We sell all around the world. We have legal entities or offices in Asia and in Latin America. We sell to all key markets around the world, not only the poultry industry but also dairy, swine, companion animals and even aqua now. We are moving into some new sectors with our products.
Tell us more about NeutraPath.
NeutraPath is a product sold in international markets. It is based on our clay technology but also includes several different adjuvants or additives that improve its efficacy and broaden its mode of action. It is not only bacteriostatic, but bactericidal and helps bind the toxins that are then released from the pathogens that are destroyed. It improves the gut health of the animal, improves productivity and allows producers to move away from antibiotics with confidence.
The reduction of antibiotics is being seen all over the world; now producers must find other solutions. Can you expand on how Amlan can help producers?
Absolutely. There are many reasons why that is the case. Much of it is driven by consumer demand. Consumers really want clean food or food that's not made with pharmaceuticals. But the reduction of antibiotic use also is due to resistance that naturally occurs in pathogenic species. Products such as NeutraPath, which have a range of modalities or modes of action, can function in the animal without causing the resistance that is so characteristic of antibiotics.
We have a wide range of products that are beneficial to the poultry industry, and we look forward we are continue business with our existing customers and talk to new excited to work with us.
