UK Poultry and Poultrymeat Statistics - July 2006

UK placings of commercial broiler chicks in June 2006 were slightly higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.1). Eggs set were slightly higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.5).

UK placings of female broiler parent chicks in June 2006 were 25% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.2).

UK placings of turkey poults in June 2006 were 4% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.3). Eggs Set for commercial turkeys were 1% higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.6).

UK placings of commercial layer chicks in June 2006 were 3% higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.4). Eggs set for commercial birds were 12% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 1.7).

Imports of commercial broiler chicks in May 2006 were nearly 3 times as high than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.1).

Exports of commercial broiler chicks in May 2006 were 56% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.1).

Imports of turkey poults in May 2006 were 87% higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.2).

Exports of turkey poults in May 2006 were 25% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.2).

Exports of live fowls in May 2006 were 89% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.3).

Exports of live turkeys in May 2006 were 56% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 2.3).

Section 3: UK Slaughterhouse Data - Numbers Slaughtered and Average Weights

UK slaughterings of broilers in June 2006 were slightly lower than for the same period in 2005 (Table 3.1). At 2.20 kg the average liveweights in England & Wales were 2% lower than in May 2006 (Table 3.4).

UK slaughterings of boiling fowls in June 2006 were 23% lower than for the same period in 2005 (Table 3.2). At 2.21 kg the average liveweights in England & Wales were 1% higher than in May 2006 (Table 3.4).

UK slaughterings of turkeys in June 2006 were 18% lower than for the same period in 2005 (Table 3.3). At 15.86 kg the average liveweights of 'heavy' turkeys in England & Wales were 4% higher than in May 2006 (Table 3.4). At 4.86 kg the average liveweights of 'light' turkeys in England & Wales were 15% lower than in May 2006 (Table 3.4).
Section 4: UK Poultrymeat Production, Trade and Domestic Usage (Net of Offal)

Total UK poultry production in June 2006 was 4% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

Total UK broiler production in June 2006 was 1% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

Total UK boiling fowl production in June 2006 was 24% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

Total UK turkey production in June 2006 was 16% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

Total UK other production in June 2006 was 6% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.1).

Total UK imports of whole birds in May 2006 were 30% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.2).

Total UK imports of cuts in May 2006 were 22% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.2).

Total UK imports of poultrymeat in May 2006 were 24% lower than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.2).

Total UK exports of whole birds in May 2006 were 22% higher than in the same period in 2005 (Table 4.3).
