Call - Duck
Call ducks are the smallest breed of domestic duck and they originate from Holland. They have a distinctive call that can be heard over long distances so were traditionally used by hunters to encourage wild ducks towards traps. There are many varieties of Call duck, with the most standardized colors being apricot, black, bibbed, blue fawn, silver, dark silver, white, magpie, pied and mallard.
Call ducks are active and good fliers, so adequate enclosures or clipping the wings is required. They do make a lot of noise, but they are easy to keep, inexpensive to feed and they are equally happy on a pond or with a low sided tray of water, so that they are able to get in and out easily. They can become very tame. The females lay around 100 pale green eggs per year and can go broody. The males weigh around 700 grams and the females 600 grams.
