Diepholz geese are native to Germany and it is named after the country where it was bred. It has white feathers and orange bill. They are a good producer of lean meat, and they have a large quantity of it in the preferred areas such as the breast and thighs.

The females lay around 40 eggs per year, mainly through the winter months. They are excellent brooders and are good mothers. Diepholz geese have a docile temperament and are sociable, although the males can sometimes be aggressive when guarding a female who is sitting on eggs.

They are a hardy, sure footed breed that are easy to care for, are active grazers and not fussy about eating poorer quality pasture. They are good guards and will make lots of noise when they see something they are not sure about. Mature males weigh around 7.5 kg and the females 6 kg.
