The White turkey, also referred to as White Holland, is one of the rarest heritage breeds and they have bright white feathering. They were used to develop the common broad breasted white turkey that is used in farming. The White turkey originated in Mexico from people breeding white colored Bronze turkeys.

The reason that heritage breeds are not used in large scale farming is that they are slow to grow, and need to eat more food to put on the required weight. The meat has a tasty flavor that is slightly gamey, and the quality of the meat means that there is some interest in breeding White turkeys. The females lay creamy brown spotted eggs.

White turkeys have docile temperaments and like other heritage breeds enjoy active foraging. They need room to exercise and require a free range set up. Mature males weigh around 11.3 kg and the females 7.2 kg.
