Linking growers & consumers
IOWA - Every day, Sondra Feldstein goes to the barn, basket in hand, and gathers eggs laid by her flock of copper-colored and black hens. Numbering 120 at last count, the birds spend their days, depending on the weather, in the barn, roaming a spacious pen bedded deep with sawdust, or out on a pasture, digging dirt baths and pecking the ground for insects.
