Childers named Arkansas Poultry Federation president
LITTLE ROCK - Term-limited state Rep. Marvin Childers, R-Blytheville, was named Tuesday as president of the Arkansas Poultry Federation.
Childers, who has served three House terms, replaces Morril Harriman, a former state Senator who resigned in November to become chief of staff for Gov.-elect Mike Beebe.
Until about a week ago, Childers, a lawyer, planned to remain in private practice.
"Then this opportunity came along, and knowing the importance of the poultry industry to Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri, I felt like it was just an opportunity that I couldn't pass up," he said.
The Poultry Federation is a poultry and egg trade organization serving the industry in the three states.
