CAMBODIA - The veterinary authorities have informed the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) that the outbreak of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) that took place in April 2008 has been resolved.

The outbreak was in backyard poultry - in mixed flocks of chickens and ducks belonging to five households in the village of Laork, Kreak, Ponhea Kreak, KG. CHAM in the centre of the country. In total, just over one thousand birds were affected, of which 302 died and the rest were destroyed.

No other outbreaks have been reported in the area and so the event is 'resolved'.
