Low-Path Bird Flu in South Korea
SOUTH KOREA - The south Korean veterinary authorities have advised the WOrld Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) that there has been an outbreak of low-pathogenic avian influenza caused by the H5N2 sub-type.The outbreak started on 3 October, was confirmed the following day and the report was sent to the OIE today.
The farm is located at YeSan-gun, Oga-myun, in the region of Ch'Ungch'Ong-Namdo on the country's west coast. All 5000 birds on a duck parent stock farm were destroyed. The authorities describe the outbreak as 'resolved'.
