More Newcastle Disease in Belgian Pigeons

BELGIUM - The veterinary authorities report a further case of Newcastle disease in a hobby flock of pigeons in East Flanders.

The Belgian veterinary authorities sent Follow up Report No. 3 dated 17 November to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes a new case of Newcastle disease in a hobby pigeon flock at Haasdonk in East Flanders. On 22 October, four birds in the flock of 200 birds had clinical symptoms and were suspected to have a parasitic infection.

When the paramyxovirus type 1 virus was identified, the four birds were euthanised.
