International Egg and Poultry Review: Argentina
ARGENTINA - By the USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS). This is a weekly report looking at international developments concerning the poultry industry. This week's report focuses on exports of poultry meat and eggs from Argentina.Top export destinations of Argentine poultry continue to be to Chile, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. However, some shifting occurred from January-December of 2008 to January-November of 2009.
Large boosts in exports were seen to Iraq (+273 per cent) and the United Arab Emirates (+171 per cent) with smaller increases to the Congo (+15 per cent) and the Netherlands (+27 per cent). Poultry meat exports decreased to Saudi Arabia (-30 per cent), Angola (-31 per cent) and Venezuela (-90 per cent) in comparison.
Overall, total exports of Argentine poultry meat declined six per cent from January-December of 2008 to January-November of 2009.
Total exports of Argentine egg and egg by-products decreased six per cent from January-December of 2008 to January-November of 2009. Large decreases were noted to Denmark (-70 per cent), Angola (-51 per cent) and Belgium (-45 per cent) with smaller declines to Austria (-6 per cent), Russia (-27 per cent) and Germany (-27 per cent). Increases were noted to Chile (+148 per cent), Colombia (+21 per cent), Cuba (+20 per cent), and Israel (+6 per cent).
