Copas Turkeys Attract Christmas Shoppers

UK - As the largest supplier of luxury turkeys sold exclusively to the independents, Copas Traditional Turkeys are determined to help local butchers, delicatessens and farm shops lure shoppers away from the multiples and back to the high street this Christmas.

A specially developed marketing kit will be sent to Copas Turkeys stockists in early October to include:

  • a selection of complimentary promotional materials
  • a comprehensive information booklet to ensure shop staff are fully briefed, and
  • ideas to encourage early ordering

In addition, the Copas family will be holding an Open Day at their farm in Cookham, Berkshire in September, giving retailers and their staff the opportunity to learn about the Copas team’s award-winning husbandry and traditional rearing methods first-hand. They will also receive advice on how to maximise their Christmas sales from the Copas Turkeys Sales team.

Jodie Cavaye, Sales & Marketing Manager at Copas Traditional Turkeys, said: "Because we are 100 per cent focused on the independent sector, we fully understand their needs at this busy time. As a result, we're investing in a bespoke marketing kit designed to help them catch the imagination of their customers, and ensure the smooth running of their Christmas orders.

"We firmly believe that the independents should be the first port of call for a superior turkey this Christmas."

Reared in cherry orchards, spacious barns and grass meadows, Copas Turkeys are renowned for their exceptional quality. The turkeys, which are only available at Christmas, are raised to full adult maturity before they are dry plucked by hand and game-hung for 14 days, ensuring a dense and flavoursome meat.

Ms Cavaye explained: "Ultimately, taste is paramount to the customer wanting to cook a very special family meal. Welfare should be a given so our aim is to educate people on the things that contribute to a superior eating quality, such as the age and diet of the birds and most of all, traditional production techniques."

All Copas turkeys are provided oven-ready, in individual boxes with personalised labels (complete with shop name, weight of turkey, retail pricing and a bar code), making it easy for retailers to complete sales smoothly and efficiently at a busy time. A wide range of accompaniments is also available. A full list is included overleaf.

Copas Turkeys are now almost fully sold out for Christmas 2010, however the team have left a small amount of flexibility to take orders from new stockists wishing to benefit from their exclusive availability. In addition to their customer Open Day in September, there will also be an Open Day for prospective stockists, which will enable shops to make an informed decision in time to benefit from the full marketing period during the run-up to Christmas.
