US Monthly Egg Products Report - October 2010
US - Sixteen per cent more shell eggs were broken during September than the same month a year earlier, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in its monthly Egg Products report.Shell eggs broken totalled 197 million dozen during September 2010, up 16 per cent from September a year ago, and 12 per cent above the 177 million broken last month.
During calendar year 2010 through September, shell eggs broken totalled 1,556 million dozen, up four per cent from the comparable period in 2009. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2010 was 2,021 million pounds, up three per cent from 2009.
Both September 2009 and September 2010 contained 22 weekdays (including one holiday) and four Saturdays.
