Poultry Culled in Kathmandu on Bird Flu Fears

2 December 2011, at 11:19am

NEPAL - In response to Kathmandu's bird flu outbreak all poultry suspected of carrying the disease have been culled.

Coordinator of Public Health Office, Bhaktapur, Shiva Bahadur KC, stated: "All the birds that were feared to have been infected, were culled and chicks, eggs and poultry farms were treated medically. So there is no chance of virus spreading to humans."

Despite the governments response to the bird flu outbreak, around 22 schools in the area affected have closed over the fear of the spread of the disease.
