Broilers Next on Agenda for Aviagen Production School

22 August 2012, at 8:10am

EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA - Aviagen has announced that the second module of the new Production Management School for customers based in Europe, Turkey, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) will be held in Turkey between 29th October and 5th November 2012. The School will focus on broiler management including health, welfare and nutrition.

Aimed at poultry professionals involved in the broiler industry the broiler module builds on the fully-subscribed breeder module taking place this August in the UK. A further module on hatchery practice will take place in the Netherlands in Spring 2013.

Nick Spenceley, Course Director, said: “Aviagen Production Management Schools in other parts of the world have proven very successful and popular with customers. We are keen to offer a similar opportunity to our EMEA customers to attend a School in their region.”

“The benefits of joining are significant. Participants get a real boost to their skills from our expert tutors in a real learning environment. They can then pass on this knowledge to their colleagues when they return to work, enhancing flock performance and revenue as a result.”

Key topics of the module include:

  • Economics and world trade for chicken meat
  • Biology of the broiler
  • Health and welfare
  • Nutrition
  • Optimised broiler growth
  • Environmental control within the broiler house
  • Financial benchmarking and developing farm budgets

Nick Spenceley added: “The School is tailored to build careers within the industry. By understanding how broiler management fits in with the cost per kilogram live weight our students will be able to see exactly how the changes they make in the management of a flock affects the commercial dynamics of their business. With that knowledge it is easier for them to make informed decisions to improve performance and realise the full potential of their flocks.”

A charge is made to cover some of the costs of the School. For more information and an application form, please click here.
