German Poultry Industry Expects 'Significant Feed Shortage'
GERMANY - German poultry farms have noted major problems as a result of higher feed prices. As feed makes up the major cost of caring for poultry, producers have been hit dramatically.
Thomas Storck, Chairman of the Association of German turkey producers (VDP) said: "With the rising cost situation, German turkey farmers cannot operate adequately."
Accordingly, the high feed prices have also impacted the supply of turkey meat. The VDP expects a significant shortage in the coming months, which will extend into 2013.
