OIE: Further Mexico H7N3 Outbreaks Reported

MEXICO - Six further cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus H7N3 have been reported to the OIE.

The six outbreaks occured between the 16-27th of July, in the Jalisco region of Mexico.

In total 263,486 birds were involved. The outbreak led to 17,854 cases and resulted in 3000 deaths. No birds were slaughtered or destroyed.

The outbreaks occured in the following areas:

  • Teocaltiche, foco 39, Teocaltiche
  • Teocaltiche, foco 37, Teocaltiche
  • Teocaltiche, foco 41, Teocaltiche
  • Teocaltiche, foco 38, Teocaltiche
  • Teocaltiche, foco 40, Teocaltiche
  • Teocaltiche, foco 36, Teocaltiche

The cause of the outbreak is still unknown.
