Newcastle Disease Outbreak in Romania
ROMANIA - A new outbreak of Newcastle disease has been reported to the OIE.The outbreak was reported by Dr Niculae Lazar, General Sanitary Veterinary Directorate, National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (NSVFSA) in Bucharest, Romania.
The outbreak occurred in a backyard flock in Zarnesti, Tohanu Vechi in the region of Brasov.
In total, there were 216 cases, resulting in 212 deaths, with 533 birds susceptible. As a result, 105 birds were destroyed.
The cause of the outbreak is unknown.
