Cambodia Reports HPAI in Kong Pisei District

CAMBODIA - The Cambodian veterinary authorities have reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza at a village in Kong Pisei District.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 1 on 30 January. The causal agent has been identified as highly pathogenic avian influenza virus, serotype H5N1. The affected population consists of backyard poultry.

Out of 503 susceptible birds, 67 cases have been identified. The remaining 436 birds were destroyed.

The source of the outbreak has not yet been determined.

Several measures have been taken to control the spread of the disease.
