Viet Nam Reports Four New Outbreaks of H5N1 Avian Flu
VIET NAM - Almost 13,000 village poultry died or were destroyed in four regions of Viet Nam last week as the result of outbreaks of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), writes Jackie Linden.

By: The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 5 dated 15 February to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
It describes four new outbreaks of HPAI in poultry in different regions across the country, starting between 10 and 14 February.
All four were described as affecting village birds. A total of 12,946 birds were involved, of which, 9,378 were affected, and 2,771 died; 10,175 were destroyed.
The presence of the H5N1 subtype of the HPAI virus has been confirmed.
