Another H5N1 Outbreak in Phnom Penh

CAMBODIA - A farm raising poultry for a Phnom Penh research institute has been hit by H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza.

The veterinary authority has sent Follow Up Report No.2 dated 15 March to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The outbreak started on 24 February at the farm raising poultry for the Cambodia Agriculture Research and Development Institute (CARDI) in Khan Dangkao, Phnom Penh. Of the 200 birds affected, 83 died and the rest have been destroyed.

The presence of the H5N1 sub-type of the virus has been confirmed.
