Livestock Production Undergoing Rapid Structural Change in Finland
FINLAND - A structural change in livestock production in Finland is affecting production costs and competitiveness.This also has an impact on the spread of contagious animal diseases and the related costs.
The Finnish Food Safety Authority, Evira, and MTT Agrifood Research Finland are organising a seminar on the structural developments within livestock production and the risks related to animal diseases.
The seminar will examine the risk of highly contagious animal diseases spreading and how the structural change affects this risk.
More information will be presented on the current and future financial risks posed by animal diseases.
Finally, the seminar will discuss protection of farms against contagious animal diseases.
The seminar which takes place on 20 March at Evira is organised on the basis of a research project conducted jointly by Evira and MTT Agrifood Research Finland and funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
