This cemented Spain as the European Union’s third chicken producer and fifth for beef.

Chicken accounted for 82 per cent of poultry meat produced.
The report confirmed 2013 as a better year for beef, as higher prices and lower feed costs improved profitability.
The report added that, when coupled with lamb and goat meat, beef forms part of a five per cent of total livestock production in Spain.
