Over 250 Firms Participate in Krishi 2014
INDIA - Over 250 firms have participated at the 9th edition of Krishi 2014 that was held in Nasik from 14 to 18 November, 2014.Speaking while inauguration the exhibition, Ilan Divon, consul, economic affairs in Mumbai said: "India is an agriculture oriented country of which around 40 per cent of the man power are engaged in farming and allied services, but agriculture only contributes seven per cent to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country."
Even though India is the first largest milk producer in the world, second largest wheat producer and fifth largest corn producer, its 40 per cent of children’s below five years are malnourished, Mr Divon stressed.
Israel, the US and China are producing more with less human resources with the help of new technology and farming techniquies, Mr Divon stressed.
"Our agriculture is very advance and we invite you to come together and raise the standard in India," Mr Divon appealed.
The event also saw the launching of Krishi app (farm app) that will help farmers to check weather, markets and others services that are very beneficial to them.
The free app has been launched on android platform and very soon the app will be available on apple store too, Sahil Nyaharkar, director, Media events, the organiser of the event and developer of the app told 5m Publishing.
We have contact of 200 traders and while using this app farmers can get connected with them to sell the produce, Mr Nyaharkar adds.
The app will also provide help to farmers in farming activities and will be expanded to over 3000 traders in future, he said.
Even though India has three season, summer, rainy and winter seasons across the year, now it is a changed and unseasonal rain can ruin or crop.
We need to take this challenge, so that our crops are not ruined by such unnatural activities, Harischandra Chavan, member of parliament, Dhindori, Maharashtra state said while speaking at the inaugural event.
The minister said the unique part of the event is that the organisers have invited 350 men and 350 women who have make innovations in farming from 35 talukas across the state.
Dr Rahul Ahir, member of legislative assembly said: "Even though productions of food grain have increased there has been shortage of storage, which caused huge damages to farmers, as well as the country.”
“Unless and until we use technology in agriculture, we cannot make agriculture profitable,” Mr Ahir stressed.
The event saw participation of over 200,000 plus farmers, students and people from the farm sector over the five day event.
The biennial event has been now become a yearly event and will be called Krishithon.
Around 300 stalls have displayed agricultural inputs, machineries and advance technologies pertaining to farming.
