Arrests in Nigeria for Importing Frozen Poultry

NIGERIA - Two people have been arrested in Nigeria for the importation of a large quantities of frozen poultry.

Frozen poultry is one of the items in the Import Prohibition List (IPL) prepared by the federal government in line with its fiscal policies, reports This Day Live.

The suspects allegedly concealed the frozen poultry with other commodities not banned by the government.

The suspects who are presently in the net allegedly concealed the frozen poultry with 4,400 cartons of La’casera apple drinks and 50 bags of locally made animal feeds.

The NCS, Customs Area Controller (CAC), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone “C” Owerri, Mr Victor David Dimka disclosed the arrest in a statement.

Describing the discovery of the concealment as "another major breakthrough in the onslaught against smuggling of contraband frozen poultry in the country", Dimka said the items were discovered by officers and men of his unit on the Asaba/Onitsha and Calabar route.
