François Rebsamen, Minister of Labour, Employment, Training and Social Services, Stéphane Le Foll, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, (pictured above) and Emmanuel Macron, Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Technology have welcomed the decision, which has saved 200 jobs and which will keep the slaughterhouse infrastructure in the region and for the poultry sector of Finistère.

The interest shown in the resumption of slaughtering at Guerlesquin by several people in the industry has shown that there is a future for exports and for the poultry sector in the region, according to the agriculture ministry.

The minister said that he had always believed in the future of the sector following the abolition of EU export subsidies in 2013

He said that the government has stepped up efforts to assist operators to adopt a new economic model, including support to hatcheries for de minimis aid and the establishment of a coupled aid to farmers in 2014.

With regard to Tilly Sabco, he said that state services and local authorities had come together for more than a year to help relations between the company and its suppliers and customers, help maintain employment through the provision of partial activity and to create and consolidate takeover bids.

As part of the recovery, to allow the immediate retention of 202 jobs provided by the company’s buyers, the State and the Region will put in place measures such pert time work and training for employees.

The minister said that while industrial activity had been slow for many months it had been at a sufficient level to keep the company going.

The government will be establishing training for the employees and providing individual support to help them keep their jobs.

There will also be a secure contract that will guarantee pay for 12 months while they are being trained.
