Accusations came from the Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO) as part of an ongoing Indian poultry welfare debate.

Referring to an FIAO press release, Big Dutchman said: “We would like to point out that at no point have we actually received a court notice as stipulated in this “press release”.”

“Secondly, please be informed that we do not have any project with a company in Uttar Pradesh to establish a 150,000 egg laying hen farm.”

Pictures circulated with the press release (pictured) depicted hens in cages not sold by Big Dutchman, a spokesman added.
