Latvia’s LLC Lielzeltini Joins Ross 400 Club

LATVIA - One of the leading poultry meat producers and processors in the Baltic States, LLC Lielzeltini has joined the Ross® 400 Club having recorded an EPEF figure of 401 at the start of 2015.

Based near the village of Bauska about 80 kilometers from the city of Riga, LLC Lielzeltini has been awarded a certificate recognising their membership of the exclusive 400 Club.

Owned by Lithuanian holding company AB Linas Agro Group since 2013, LLC Lielzeltini has focused on producing high quality broiler meat and meat products under the brand Bauska. Latvian company JSC Putnu Fabrika Kekava is the main supplier of hatching eggs, while the rest are supplied from Denmark.

Commenting on the achievement, Poultry Business Deputy Director Saulius Petkevicius from AB Linas Agro said: “It has been a conscious decision to concentrate on efficiency and quality. The continuous progress of optimising the health of our birds, which is our main goal while offering the market quality meat, leads to better growth rate, lower feed conversion and low mortality in broiler production.”

Mr Petkevicius went on to explain that AB Linas Agro Group promote the co-operation between the two production companies of poultry JSC Putnu fabrika Kekava and LLC Lielzeltini to exchange practices and experience. He is regularly lecturing to the staff of both organizations and did so on the same day the 400 Club certification was presented.

He said: “There is a lot of experience inside both of the companies which will add value for the whole poultry industry in Baltics.”

Anita Misina who works as a Production Manager at LLC Lielzeltinii added: “We have gained very good results over the last few years. It is great to receive this type of recognition from Aviagen® Kft and we are very proud. We have long experience with the Ross 308 and I am sure that we have a chance to get even better results in the future.”

In 2014, LLC Lielzeltini produced more than 9,000 tons of poultry meat and employed 396 people, selling products to nine European countries.

AB Linas Agro Group consolidates 34 companies in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Denmark. The companies are engaged in agricultural commodities trading, agricultural supplies, farming and processing of agricultural products, as well as food production. The Group has more than 2,260 employees.
