Price of Chinese Farm Produce Drops Slightly
CHINA - The price of farm Chinese produce continued to fall last week according to a survey of 36 medium and large sized cities carried out by the Ministry of Commerce.Last week, with sufficient supply in the vegetable market, the average price of 18 vegetables was down 2.5 per cent week on week, among which the prices of egg-plant, lettuce and cabbage decreased by 13.8 per cent, 13.1 per cent and 9.7 per cent respectively week on week.
The price of meat fluctuated slightly, with the price of pork up 0.4 per cent week on week, and price of beef down 0.5 per cent and mutton down 0.6 per cent.
The prices of eggs and poultry also fluctuated slightly, with the price of eggs down 0.5 per cent week on week, and chicken up 0.4 per cent.
The price of grain saw slight movement both up and down, with the price of rice down 0.2 per cent week on week, and flour up 0.3 per cent.
The price of edible oil remained steady, with the price of peanut oil remaining the same as that of the previous week.
The price of soybean oil was down 0.1 per cent week on week, while rapeseed oil was up 0.1 per cent.
The price of aquatic products was up 0.4 per cent, with large hairtail, small yellow croaker and grass carp up 1.7 per cent, 1.6 per cent and one per cent respectively.
