Scottish Poultry Processing Plant Closure Announced
SCOTLAND, UK - Politicians have taken action to try and save jobs after the closure of a poultry processing plant in Angus was announced.

By: The One Stop Halal factory in Letham is now in a 45-day consulation period before staff can be dismissed, reported The Courier.
The chicken plant was acquired by the 2 Sisters Food Group from Mitchells of Letham in 2007. It was then sold to One Stop Halal in September 2013.
Although separate companies, the owner of 2 Sisters, Ranjit Singh Boparan, also has a stake in One Stop Halal.
Member of Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the area Graeme Dey said: "Discussions Mike Weir MP and I have had with the company indicate that around 90 of the 109 employees will have the opportunity to move to One Stop Halal's sister company Two Sisters plant at Coupar Angus.
"The contracts with Scottish farmers it seems will also be honoured by Two Sisters.
"However, even in the best case scenario some jobs will go and a blow dealt to the local economy.
"Following a conversation with the NFUS though I have written to the Government asking them to seek to encourage the owners of the Letham site to consider selling the plant on to another operator.
"The NFUS believe there is sufficient capacity in the Scottish chicken farming sector to service. Here's hoping something can be done."
