"I have obtained information from Konspol that the facility in Kotunia will take on between 200 and 300 employees which we are very happy about,” Deputy Mayor of Kotunia Karol Kujawa told local news weekly Kurier Slupecki.

To develop its planned investment, the meat processor is aiming to purchase a land plot with a surface of about 10,000 sq. m. from the Polish municipality, according to Kujawa.

Konspol is already present in the neighbouring municipality of Slupca where it owns a slaughtering and poultry meat processing facility.

Meanwhile, Mayor of Nowy Sacz Ryszard Nowak has announced plans by the municipality to sell a land plot in the neighbourhood of Konspol’s meat processing facility.

“A major facility which will hire several hundred persons will be built on the land plot. We have negotiated [with the investor] for several months,” Nowak said. “From the city’s perspective, it is a very important transaction, not to mention that it is related to a well-known company from Nowy Sacz, one that has a global outreach.”

Local news site Sadeczanin.info reported that the land plot will be purchased by Konspol as part of its ongoing investment plans.

The value of the two projects were not disclosed. However, they will be part of the company’s plans to invest up to PLN 200m (€47.5m) to significantly raise its meat processing capacity and finance acquisitions of competitors in Poland and other European countries.

While Konspol’s main export markets include the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Ireland, the Scandinavian countries, and Slovakia, the company is also making efforts to expand to Indonesia, Japan and other Asian markets. Exports represent about 30% of Konspol’s sales revenues.
