Morrisons Announces Cage-Free Move
UK - Supermarket chain Morrisons has announced a commitment to source only eggs from non-caged hens by 2025.

The transition was announced on Twitter yesterday, and is thought to arise from a petition by teenager Lucy Gavaghan pressuring Morrisons and Asda supermarkets to remove eggs from caged hens from shelves. A similar petition already resulted in an announcement by Tesco that it will go cage-free by 2025.
On the petition pages, Ms Gavaghan thanked supporters for making the change at Morrisons happen.
"Clearly, the way supermarkets source their eggs is evolving at a rapid pace. This movement has been long awaited by so many people who have been working tirelessly to bring the issue into the eyes of the supermarkets which create the demand for the caged hens eggs," she said.
"Now, I will concentrate this petition on Asda, the last of the big four supermarkets to take notice of what their customers want."
