According to MuscatDaily.com, The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MoAF) stated on Wednesday that a decision has been taken to ban import of poultry and its derivatives from Bulgaria.

It added in another statement that a ministerial decision has been issued to lift the ban on poultry imports from Malaysia, the UK, India, Germany and Wisconsin and Tennessee in the US.

The ministry had initially banned import of poultry from Bulgaria along with several other countries in January this year, which was later removed in September for Bulgaria.

This is the second time it has placed a ban on Bulgaria this year. The bans were introduced in the aftermath of an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus in many European countries and a few Indian states which started in November-December 2016.
