"I'm really excited that we've recently announced the location for our expansion project to be in Calhoun County, Texas. This project is right on schedule for completion in 2020 to add 120,000 tons of new ALIMET capacity for supply all around the world," said Klopfenstein. "Our customers are some of the most successful and fastest-growing meat protein producers in the United States and all around the world, and we're growing with our customers to continue to feed the world and support of our customers.

Third-party studies conducted in the US covering 95% of the broiler industry over multiple years have shown HMTBA, the active ingredient in ALIMET, provides better carcass yields than DL-methionine, provides faster growth rates and reduces condemnations as compared to DL-methionine.

"Customers choose ALIMET for all the benefits that they enjoy in terms of protecting their economic results," Klopfenstein said. "We look forward to continuing to grow with our customers right through the next decade."

The expansion in production reflects the rising demand for animal protein production worldwide due to an ever-growing global population. The new manufacturing site will produce ALIMET feed supplement, Novus's liquid methionine product, and join the network of existing Novus manufacturing facilities in the southern United States. ALIMET is an FDA-approved source of methionine, which is a necessary component of a balanced and healthy diet for livestock, poultry, and aquaculture diets.

Held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, the 2018 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) brought together more than 30,000 poultry, meat and feed industry leaders from all over the world in attendance. In 2019, IPPE will be held Feb. 12-14.
