Key poultry industry leaders shared insights on consumer purchasing behavior
Speakers and panelists led discussions on transparency, trends and consumption patterns.Ninety-one percent of US consumers have purchased chicken at the grocery store in the past six months according to new research presented at Chicken Marketing Summit, which was held on July 21-23, 2019. The 2019 edition of the executive conference was hosted by WATT Global Media and the National Chicken Council at the Belmond Charleston Place in Charleston South Carolina.
The 44th annual chicken industry event attracted attendance from 19 of the top 20 US producers and a growing international presence with attendees from Canada, Chile, Colombia, Egypt, Germany, Jamaica, Poland and South Korea. Industry professionals present included representatives from Arby’s, Bojangles, Chick-fil-A, Inspire Brands, Panda Restaurant Group, Zaxby’s and many others.
“The presentations and discussions at the 2019 Chicken Marketing Summit provided insights into consumer purchasing trends and challenges the industry faces when dealing with choice and competition,” said Terrence O’Keefe, content director, WATT Global Media.
The agenda included an exclusive presentation revealing the results of the 2019 Chicken Consumption Survey, which outlined four trends driving and disrupting the future of chicken, presented by Chris DuBois, senior vice president and principal of IRI, and Joyce Neth, vice president, director of audience development and research with WATT Global Media.
In addition, the summit featured a lineup of 17 globally recognized speakers and panelists who shared research and information on a variety of topics centered around this year’s theme, “Channel, Choices and Challengers.” Sessions included flexitarian eating and plant-based proteins, hearing poultry customers over social media’s noise, outlook on global meat production, providing transparency before a crisis and more.
The 2020 Chicken Marketing Summit is scheduled for July 19-21, 2020 at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation in Amelia Island, Florida.
