Time to engage in Aviagen’s “Breeding for Welfare and Sustainability” conversation
Upcoming European poultry showsAviagen® regional support teams and global experts are eagerly anticipating two important European industry exhibitions in May. First on the agenda will be the British Pig & Poultry Fair in Warwickshire, UK, May 10-11. There the UK team will welcome customers and visitors to their stand #3 in hall 1. The Fair will be followed by VIV Europe in Utrecht, the Netherlands, May 31-June 2, where the Europe and Turkey, Middle East and Africa (TMEA) teams will be present at stand 11.C010.
These will be the first in-person trade shows for many of the team members in three years due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, and, according to Stuart Thomson, Head of UK Sales and Technical,” nothing can replace the experience of greeting our customers and sharing ideas face to face. We are looking forward to once again getting together with them, listening to their experiences, and together exploring ways to enhance their success.”
For Aviagen, the main topic of discussion will be “Breeding for welfare and sustainability,” which is a fundamental value and an ongoing mission for us.
“Bird welfare and sustainability form the foundation of our breeding program, and they go together to bring about considerable benefits for our customers, their communities and our planet,” said Patrick Claeys, President, European Operations. “Our field data shows that healthy robust birds with good welfare perform better, have stronger livability, are more resistant to disease, and have excellent feed efficiency – which delivers bountiful contributions to environmental sustainability.”
He goes on to explain that these traits boost the economic sustainability of poultry farmers, increasing their ability to feed people around the world with nutritious, sustainable chicken meat.
Another way we ensure our customers remain competitive is by supplying the right bird for the right market. Through our commitment to breeding choice, we offer a variety of breeds, including Arbor Acres®, Indian River® and Ross® for conventional markets, and the Rowan Range® for slower-growing, free range and organic markets. That way, our customers can address consumer asks for today and tomorrow.
Social sustainability and ensuring the success of our industry for future generations are also important to Aviagen. We feel that to breed the best, we need the best. For this reason, we invest in the development of our future generations, and look for opportunities to introduce them to the world of opportunity available to them in poultry. Both the British Pig & Poultry Fair and VIV Europe have always been important events on our annual Aviagen calendar. They are ideal forums to share our latest advancements and get insights into the recent innovations of our industry colleagues. Most importantly, they enable us to meet with our valued customers and industry associates and share knowledge that serves to strengthen the success and sustainability of the poultry industry in Europe and around the world.
