Hands-on knowledge sharing in Zambia
81 hatchery experts gathered to take part in a highly interactive Hatchery Management Training programmeA group of 81 hatchery experts gathered recently at the Protea Hotel in Lusaka, Zambia, to take part in a highly interactive Hatchery Management Training programme. Organized by Ross Central Africa, in conjunction with Royal Pas Reform and supported by Aviagen, the four-day event was aimed primarily at Hatchery Managers and Assistant Managers, who are involved in day-to-day hatchery management.
The training covered several important issues, including how to evaluate hatchery performance and analyze where performance, such as hatchability, embryo mortality pattern and chick quality is behind standards. Delegates also discussed how to recognize weak points in their own egg handling and incubation procedures, and how to formulate modifications to improve hatchery performance.
Speakers from Royal Pas Reform at the event were Adriaen Sligcher, Director of Sales in the Sub-Saharan Africa Region; Gerd de Lange, Senior Poultry and Incubation Specialist; Eline Holtslag, Incubation Specialist, and Senior Hatchery Specialist, Martin Barten. Hipra provided two speakers – Global Product Manager, Santiago de Castro Vergés, and Amine Mernizi, Regional Technical Marketing Specialist Poultry for Africa and the Middle East. Veterinarian Dr Frank Travers from Avimune (Inc.), completed the expert line up.
“Royal Pas Reform is committed to helping to provide high-quality training for hatchery professionals – sharing the latest industry knowledge and best practice,” says Gerd de Lange. “Helping to achieve the best-possible results from hatchery operations is in everyone’s interest – researchers, solutions providers, and customers alike.”
