The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) and poultry and pork food producers celebrate the historic decision to regulate the Tax Reform with the inclusion of meat in the Exempt Basic Basket, following a vote that took place recently in the Plenary of the Chamber of Deputies last week. 

It is a victory for those who fight for the country's food security, and who understand that the right to access to meat and its essential nutrients must be preserved, ABPA said in a press release. 

Brazil is one of the largest consumers of animal proteins in the world, with an average per capita consumption of more than 100 kilos.

ABPA expressed its gratitude to the sensitivity of the president of the Parliamentary Agricultural Front (FPA), Pedro Lupion, and all members of the FPA, other Fronts and other congressmen, which allowed the inclusion of animal proteins in the exempt basic basket.
