Aviagen discuss “Poultry Beyond 2030” at Nutritionists' Conference in New Zealand

This prestigious event brought together industry leaders and academic experts to discuss the latest advancements in broiler nutrition, with a focus on building a sustainable future for the poultry industry.
Global gathering for broiler nutrition innovation
Delegates from more than 20 countries were welcomed with a traditional New Zealand Maori Pōwhiri ceremony, followed by an opening address from Nicola Grigg, New Zealand’s Right Honourable Associate Minister of Agriculture.
Aviagen contributed significantly to the event, with Dr. Marcelo Silva, Head of Global Nutrition Services, and Dr. Peter Chrystal, Senior Poultry Nutritionist, delivering key presentations. Dr. Silva’s session, Recent Advances in Broiler Nutrition for Sustainable Future Outcomes, and Dr. Chrystal’s talk, The Future of Nutrition and its Role in Sustainable Broiler Production: A Lifecycle Assessment, offered valuable knowledge on best practices for leading to greater bird welfare and sustainability.
The four-day conference also offered numerous formal and informal networking opportunities, allowing participants to exchange ideas, share research, and collaborate on strategies for enhancing competitiveness and innovation in the poultry sector.

First launched in the 1990s, the conference took a brief pause during New Zealand’s COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020 but has returned stronger than ever.
