Brazilian exports of poultry genetics, including 1-day-old chicks and fertile eggs, totalled 1,960 tons in September, according to a recent market report from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). The number is 7.2% higher than the total shipped in the same period last year, with 1,829 tons.

Revenue generated by exports reached US$ 18.7 million, exceeding by 5.4% the total obtained from exports in the segment in September 2023, with US$ 17.8 million.

Over the nine months of 2024, poultry genetics exports totalled 20,243 tons, a volume 5.9% higher than that shipped between January and September 2023, with 19,124 tons.

Revenue generated by shipments made in the first nine months of 2024 reached US$ 170 million, a balance 5.5% lower than the previous year, with US$ 179.9 million.

For the second consecutive month, Venezuela was the main destination for exports in the sector. In total, 678 tons of poultry genetics were exported to the country in September, a balance 1395% higher than the previous year. Next came Mexico, with 504 tons (-50.9%), Senegal, with 251 tons (-22.1%), Paraguay, with 167 tons (-5.3%) and Saudi Arabia, with 124 tons (+141.6%).

“There is a redirection of the flow of genetic exports between Latin American countries, with strong demand from Venezuela, which has invested in the reconstruction of local poultry production," said Ricardo Santin, ABPA president.
