In France, chicken meat production is slowly increasing driven by domestic demand, according to a recent US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) report.

While French extra-EU exports have stagnated (mainly due to higher costs), the French domestic retail market for chicken meat remains buoyant.

French households generally prefer to purchase chicken products that have been produced in France. The HRI sector is a notable exception where most chicken meat is imported.
