Brazil turkey exports decline in 2024 - ABPA

Brazilian exports of turkey - a value-added meat segment – ended 2024 with distinct movements in terms, of shipments, according to surveys by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). 

In the case of turkey meat, total exports reached 64.1 thousand tons in the twelve months of 2024, a volume 8.1% lower than in 2023, with 69.8 thousand tons. Revenue from shipments reached US$ 153.9 million, a balance 23.4% lower than in 2023, with US$ 201 million.

Mexico was the main destination for Brazil's turkey meat exports in 2024, with 9.8 thousand tons (-39% compared to the previous year), followed by South Africa, with 9.5 thousand tons (-27%), the Netherlands, with 8.6 thousand tons (-20%), Chile, with 7 thousand tons (+56%), and Peru, with 2.8 thousand tons (-36%).

Referring to both the turkey and duck sectors, Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA, said: “The two poultry sectors added US$ 165 million in foreign exchange revenues to the country, and there are good expectations regarding the flow of shipments in 2025, especially to Europe and the Middle East."
